Transfer Student Orientation

Congratulations on your acceptance to East Carolina University. As a transfer student, you have three options for orientation and class registration: a one day on-campus orientation (spring, summer and fall admit), a two day on-campus orientation (fall only admit) OR an online orientation (spring, summer, or fall admit).

One Day On-Campus Orientation

  • DATES:
    • November 17, 2023
    • January 5, 2024
  • CHECK-IN:
    • 8:00 a.m. – 8:50 a.m.
    • Should conclude by 5:00 p.m.
  • COST:
    • $100 for students
    • $50 for the first family member and $20 for each additional family member
    • No charge for family members under the age of 17
  • WHAT’S COVERED:
    • Student’s ECU 1Card
    • Program materials and meals
    • Parking and shuttle service
    • Facility usage and staffing
  • WHAT TO EXPECT:
    • Sessions introduce students and their families to academic polices and campus resources
    • Students will meet with advisors, register for classes, receive their ECU 1Card, and meet other transfer students

Two Day On-Campus Orientation

  • DATE: Thursday and Friday, May 30th and 31st
    • This orientation is for summer or fall admits only
  • CHECK-IN:
  • COST:
    • $155 for students
    • $85 for the first family member and $40 for each additional family member
    • No charge for family members under the age of 17
  • WHAT’S COVERED:
    • Student’s ECU 1Card
    • Program materials and meals
    • Parking and shuttle service
    • Facility usage and staffing
  • WHAT TO EXPECT:
    • Sessions introduce students and their families to academic polices and campus resources, as well as a tour of facilities and an optional overnight stay in our residence hall
    • Students will meet with advisors, register for classes, receive their ECU 1Card, and meet other transfer students

Online Orientation

  • Available to take any time once you are registered.
  • Access online orientation through Pirate Port by using your ECU username and password.
  • There is a $20 fee for online orientation that includes the cost for your ECU 1Card.
  • Upon completion you will receive and advisory code along with a list of Advising Centers.
  • Contact the appropriate Advising Center to speak with an advisor.
  • Provide the advisor with the code and they will discuss class registration.
  • You will be responsible for contacting the Math Department to schedule a time to take the Math Placement test.

In-Person:

  • May 30-31, 2024 (Overnight session, students must attend both days)

  • Can be done at student’s discretion once registered
